The Previous Deployment
Before Grandstream products were deployed, the hotel was using analog telephone systems and traditional
Wi-Fi routers, which created several operational and management challenges:
Limited Telephone Functionality and No Centralized Phone Management: The analog phone system
had limited features and was difficult to manage compared to a modern IP-PBX and there was no centralized
platform to manage, monitor, or configure the hotel’s telephone system.
Difficult Maintenance, Scalability Issues, and Higher Operational Complexity: Troubleshooting
and configuring individual analog lines required more manual effort which resulted in scalability issues as
independent routers and devices needed to be configured every time. The separate systems for telephony and
networking made the infrastructure difficult to manage and costlier.
Poor Wi-Fi Coverage, Limited Capacity, and No Centralized Wi-Fi Management: Traditional Wi-Fi routers
could not provide consistent coverage across guest rooms, lobby, dining areas, banquet halls, rooftop, and
outdoor areas. The routers were also not able to handle a large number of guests at one time which created a
connectivity problem for both staff and guests when the hotel was crowded. Additionally, each router had to be
managed separately which made monitoring and troubleshooting difficult for the IT team.
The Key Goals of the Deployment
The primary goal of the deployment at Best Western Plus Bay Hills Hotel, Cox’s Bazar was to build a highperformance,
secure, scalable, and centrally manageable IT infrastructure that could support the hotel’s guest
services, staff operations, security systems, and communication requirements. The deployment was designed
as an integrated solution covering networking, Wi-Fi, IP telephony, firewall security, and centralized cloud
management.
Build a Reliable Hotel-Wide Network Infrastructure and Ensure System Security: Deploy a structured
switching architecture using the GCC6020 router, GWN7831 SFP aggregation switch, GWN7803P layer 2+
switches, GWN7822P PoE++ switch, and GWN7806P switches to provide reliable connectivity for hotel rooms,
offices, public areas, cameras, access points, and other IP-based devices. Additionally, the GCC6020 provided
firewall protection to control internet access, network segmentation, traffic management, and security.
Provide High-Speed and Seamless Wi-Fi Coverage: Deliver comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage throughout the
guest rooms, lobby, reception, dining areas, banquet halls, rooftop, and outdoor areas using different GWN
access point models according to the coverage and capacity requirements of each location. The objective was
to provide guests and staff with stable, high-speed, and seamless wireless connectivity throughout the hotel.
Support High-Density Guest Connectivity and Improve Communication: Design the wireless network to
handle a large number of concurrently connected devices while maintaining consistent performance, especially
in high-traffic areas such as the lobby, dining areas, banquet halls, and other common spaces. To enhance
overall communication and services, GHP630 phones were deployed in all hotel rooms for guests and GHP610
phones were deployed in operational areas such as guard room, parking areas, elevators, and hotel lobbies.
Implement a Complete IP-PBX Communication System and Provide Reliable Communication to Hotel Employees: Deploy a centralized Grandstream UCM6304 HA solution to provide reliable hotel-wide IP
telephony. The system was designed to support guest-room phones, reception, security/guard rooms, parking
areas, elevators, lobbies, and hotel employees through dedicated IP phone models. GRP2615 phones with the
GBX20 expansion modules were deployed at the reception desks to support efficient front-desk operations
and high-volume call handling.
Enable Centralized Cloud Management to Improve Operational Efficiency and Reliability: Integrate the router, switches, access points, IP-PBX system, and phone devices with GDMS Cloud to provide centralized monitoring, configuration, provisioning, troubleshooting, and management. This reduces the need for manual configuration for individual devices and simplifies ongoing network administration for the IT team which makes it easier for them to manage and maintain the entire solution more efficiently by reducing operational complexity.
Provide Scalability for Future Expansion: Build the infrastructure with sufficient switching capacity, SFP uplinks, PoE/PoE++ capability, and centralized management so that additional access points, IP phones, cameras, IoT devices, and other network equipment can be added as the hotel’s requirements grow.
Overall, the deployment aimed to provide Best Western Plus Bay Hills Hotel with a complete enterprise-grade communication and network infrastructure capable of delivering reliable guest Wi-Fi, secure connectivity, hotel-wide IP telephony, centralized management, and a scalable foundation for future technology requirements.

Grandstream was selected as the technology solution for Best Western Plus Bay Hills Hotel, Cox’s Bazar because it could provide a complete, integrated, and centrally manageable communication and network infrastructure covering the hotel’s networking, Wi-Fi, IP-PBX, IP phones, and security requirements. Instead of deploying products from multiple vendors and managing each system separately, Grandstream offered a unified ecosystem that could address the hotel’s requirements while simplifying deployment, configuration, monitoring, and long-term maintenance.
1. A Complete, Cost-Effective Solution from a Single Ecosystem
One of the major reasons for selecting Grandstream was its broad product portfolio. The project required routers, firewall, core and access switches, Wi-Fi access points, IP-PBX servers, and a large number of IP phones. Grandstream was able to provide solutions across all these categories, allowing the hotel to build a communications infrastructure using products from the same brand that were designed to work together. The deployment included the GCC6020 router/firewall, GWN7800/GWN7820/GWN7830 series switches, GWN access points, UCM6304 IP-PBX, GHP hotel phones, GRP business IP phones, and GBX20 expansion modules. This reduced interoperability concerns that can arise when combining products from multiple vendors. Grandstream also delivered enterprise-level functionality within budget.
2. Centralized Cloud Management for a Large Scale Deployment and Future Expansion
Another key reason Grandstream was selected was due to its ability to centrally manage the network and communication infrastructure through GDMS Cloud. The hotel has a large number of devices distributed across guest rooms, public areas, offices, rooftop areas, and other operational locations. With GDMS Cloud, administrators can centrally monitor and manage supported Grandstream devices, perform configuration and provisioning, monitor device status, and simplify troubleshooting. This provides the hotel’s technical team with a single management platform rather than requiring separate management systems for different device categories. A large number of devices can also be managed under one platform with a total of 140 Wi-Fi APs, 170 IP Phones, and 25 network switches being managed. Lastly, the hotel’s network can be expanded by adding additional access points, switches, IP phones, cameras, and other IP-based devices as required easily.
3. Strong Wi-Fi Capability for Guest and Staff Connectivity
The Grandstream GWN access point portfolio fit the bill perfectly in terms of various features like coverage range, capacity, performance, and centralized management. The deployment was designed to provide wireless coverage across guest rooms, lobby, reception, dining areas, banquet halls, rooftop areas, and outdoor locations. Different access point models were selected based on expected client density, coverage range requirements, and environmental conditions. This approach helps provide a consistent wireless experience for both hotel guests and employees.
4. Dedicated Hotel IP Phone Solutions and Reliable IP PBX Infrastructure
Grandstream was particularly suitable because the hotel required a large-scale IP telephony system. The UCM6304 platform provided the centralized IP-PBX, whilst dedicated hotel phones such as the GHP630 and GHP610 were used for guest rooms and operational areas. The GHP series is specifically designed for hospitality environments, making it more appropriate for a hotel room deployment compared to conventional IP phones. This allowed the hotel to provide guests with a dedicated and user-friendly telephone service while maintaining centralized control from the IP-PBX. Two UCM6304 units were deployed with High Availability (HA) to improve system reliability and reduce the risk of communication downtime which was critical for the hotel to run smoothly.
5. PoE-Based Infrastructure and High-Speed SFP Uplinks for the Network Backbone
A large number of access points, IP phones, and cameras required network connectivity, and Grandstream’s PoE and PoE++ switches allowed many of these devices to receive both data and power through a single Ethernet cable. The GWN7803P, GWN7822P, and GWN7806P switches were selected according to the power and connectivity requirements of various devices. The GWN7831 SFP switch and Grandstream SFP modules provided high-speed fiber-based uplink connectivity between network segments which was important as the deployment needed connectivity between multiple access switches and central switching infrastructure.
6. Integrated Network Security
Security was another important factor to consider while selecting Grandstream. The GCC6020 was deployed as the central router and firewall platform, providing a centralized point for internet connectivity, routing, traffic control, and network security. Using the GCC6020 together with the Grandstream switching and Wi-Fi infrastructure provided a consistent network architecture and simplified administration.
Overall Reason for Choosing Grandstream
The main reason for selecting Grandstream was its ability to provide a complete, scalable, secure, and centrally managed hotel communication infrastructure under one ecosystem. The combination of GCC6020, GWN switches, GWN access points, UCM6304 HA, GHP hotel phones, GRP business phones, and GDMS Cloud allowed the hotel to establish a unified platform for networking, Wi-Fi, IP telephony, and device management.
For Best Western Plus Bay Hills Hotel, the Grandstream solution was therefore not simply a collection of individual products; it was selected as an integrated technology ecosystem designed to simplify deployment, improve reliability, enhance guest and staff connectivity, reduce operational complexity, and provide a scalable foundation for the hotel’s future IT requirements.
